ഇസ്ലാമാശ്ലേഷിച്ച ഉടനെ ഉമറി(റ)ന് ഒരു മോഹം. ഇസ്ലാമിനെ ഏറ്റവും ശക്തമായി വിമർശിക്കുന്ന ആളെ ഒന്ന് കാണണം. എന്റെ ഇസ്ലാം സ്വീകരണം നേരിട്ടൊന്ന് പറയണം. പ്രഭാതമായപ്പോൾ നേരേ അബൂ ജഹലിന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് നടന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വാതിൽ മുട്ടി. വാതിൽ തുറന്ന് കൊണ്ട് ചോദിച്ചു. സഹോദരപുത്രാ സ്വാഗതം, എന്താ വന്നത്? ഉമർ പറഞ്ഞു, ഞാൻ അല്ലാഹുവിനെയും അവന്റെ ദൂതനെയും അവിടുന്ന് അവതരിപ്പിച്ചതിനെയും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. അബൂജഹലിന് ദേഷ്യംപിടിച്ചു. നിന്നെയും നിന്റെ ആശയത്തെയും ദൈവം ഹീനമാക്കട്ടെ! എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് അയാൾ വാതിൽ വലിച്ചടച്ചു.
പിന്നീട് ഉമർ(റ) ആലോചിച്ചു. മക്കയിൽ ഏറ്റവും നന്നായി വാർത്തകൾ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആൾ ആരാണ്? അതെ ജമീൽ ബിൻ മഅമർ അൽ ജുമഹി എന്ന ആളാണ്. ഉമർ(റ) അയാളുടെ അടുത്തെത്തി. അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ചോദിച്ചു. അല്ല നിങ്ങളറിഞ്ഞോ? ഞാൻ ഇസ്ലാം സ്വീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ മുഹമ്മദ് നബി ﷺ യെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. കേട്ടപാടെ കേൾക്കാത്ത പാടെ അയാൾ പുറത്തിറങ്ങി. തിരക്കു പിടിച്ചതിനാൽ അയാളുടെ മേൽമുണ്ട് നിലത്തിഴയുന്നുണ്ട്. നേരെ കഅബയുടെ അടുത്തേക്ക് പുറപ്പെട്ടു. ഉമറും(റ) പിന്നിൽ തന്നെ കൂടി. കഅബയുടെ പരിസരത്ത് ഖുറൈശികൾ ക്ലബ്ബടിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ജമീൽ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു. അല്ലയോ ഖുറൈശികളെ.. ഖത്വാബിന്റെ മകൻ ഉമർ(റ) സാബിഈ ആയിരിക്കുന്നു. അയാളുടെ പിന്നിൽ നിന്ന് ഉമർ(റ) വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെയല്ല, ഞാൻ മുസ്‌ലിമായിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ സാക്ഷ്യം വഹിച്ച് പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്നു അല്ലാഹു അല്ലാതെ ആരാധ്യനില്ല. മുഹമ്മദ് നബി ﷺ അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ ദൂതരാകുന്നു. ഇത് പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കേണ്ട താമസം ഖുറൈശികൾ ഒന്നാകെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റടുത്തേക്ക് ചീറിയടുത്തു. നട്ടുച്ചയാകുന്നത് വരെ ആ പ്രതിരോധം തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു. മർദ്ദിച്ചവശനാക്കിയപ്പോൾ ഉമർ(റ) പറഞ്ഞു. അല്ലാഹുസത്യം! ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരു മൂന്നൂറംഗങ്ങൾ ഒന്നുതികഞ്ഞോട്ടെ. അന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഞങ്ങളെ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാനാവില്ല.
അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ ഖുറൈശികളിലെത്തന്നെ ഒരു വയോധികൻ അവിടേക്ക് കടന്നു വന്നു. അയാൾ ചോദിച്ചു, എന്താണ് കാര്യം? അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. ഉമർ(റ) സാബിഈ ആയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഛേ ഇതെന്ത് കഷ്ടം! ഒരു പുരുഷൻ അയാളുടെ സ്വന്തം കാര്യത്തിൽ ഒരു തീരുമാനമെടുത്തു. അതിന് നിങ്ങളയാളെ എന്ത് ചെയ്യാനാ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത്? അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഗോത്രം ബനൂ അദിയ്യ് അയാളെ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വിട്ട് തരുമെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നുണ്ടോ? അത് കൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ അയാളുടെ വഴിക്ക് വിടൂ. ഇത്രയും കേൾക്കാനും ചുറ്റിയിരുന്ന വസ്ത്രം അഴിച്ചുമാറ്റിയത് പോലെ അവർ വിട്ടുമാറി. ഉമർ (റ) ന്റെ മകൻ അബ്ദുല്ല പറയുന്നു, പിൽക്കാലത്ത് മദീനയിൽ വച്ച് ഞാൻ ഉപ്പയോട് ചോദിച്ചു. അവിടുന്ന് മുസ്‌ലിമായ ദിവസം ഉപ്പയുടെ ചുറ്റിലും കൂടിയ ശത്രുക്കളെ വിരട്ടിയോടിച്ച ആൾ ആരായിരുന്നു. ഉപ്പ പറഞ്ഞു, മോനെ അത് ആസ്വ് ബിൻ വാഇൽ അസ്സഹ്മി എന്ന ആളായിരുന്നു. അയാൾ ബഹുദൈവ വിശ്വാസിയായിട്ടാണ് മരണപ്പെട്ടത്.
ഇബ്നു ഉമറി(റ)ൽ നിന്ന് ഇമാം ബുഖാരി(റ) ഉദ്ദരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു നിവേദനം ഇങ്ങനെ വായിക്കാം. ഖുറൈശികളുടെ വധഭീഷണിയെ തുടർന്ന് ആശങ്കയോടെ ഉമർ(റ) വീട്ടിൽ കഴിയുകയായിരുന്നു. ആസ് ബിൻ വാഇൽ അവിടേക്ക് കടന്നു വന്നു. പട്ട് കൊണ്ട് ബോർഡർ ചെയ്ത് അലങ്കാരം നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു വസ്ത്രമായിരുന്നു അയാൾ ധരിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ജാഹിലിയ്യാ കാലത്ത് ഞങ്ങൾ കരാറിലായിരുന്ന ബനൂ സഹമ് ഗോത്രക്കാരനാണദ്ദേഹം. ഉമറി(റ)നോട് അദ്ദേഹം ചോദിച്ചു, എന്താണ് പ്രശ്നം? ഉമർ(റ) പറഞ്ഞു, ഞാൻ മുസ്‌ലിമായതിനാൽ താങ്കളുടെ ജനത എന്നെ വധിച്ചു കളയുമെന്ന് പറയുന്നു. ഉടനെ ആസ്വ് പ്രതികരിച്ചു. ഞാൻ അഭയം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചാൽ പിന്നെ ഒരാളും നിങ്ങളെ ഒന്നും ചെയ്യില്ല. അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം പുറത്തിറങ്ങി. അതാ താഴ്‌വര നിറഞ്ഞ് ജനങ്ങൾ ഉമറി(റ)ന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മാർച്ച് ചെയ്യുന്നു. ആസ്വ് ചോദിച്ചു, നിങ്ങൾ എങ്ങോട്ടാണ് ? ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഖത്വാബിന്റെ മകൻ ഉമറി(റ)നെ വേണം. ഉടനെ ആസ്വ് പ്രതികരിച്ചു. ഉമറി(റ)നെ ഒരു നിലക്കും തൊടാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് സാധ്യമല്ല. അതോടെ ജനങ്ങൾ പിൻവാങ്ങി.
ഉമറി(റ)ന്റെ ഇസ്ലാമാശ്ലേഷം വിശ്വാസികൾക്ക് ആത്മവിശ്വാസം നൽകി. ഇബ്നു മസ്ഊദ്(റ) പറയുന്നു ഉമർ(റ) ഇസ്‌ലാമായതോടെ ഞങ്ങൾ പ്രതാപികളായി. അദ്ദേഹം ഇസ്‌ലാമിലേക്ക് വരുന്നത് വരെ കഅബയുടെ അടുത്ത് പരസ്യമായി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാൻ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ല. ഇബ്ൻ അബ്ബാസ്(റ) പറയുന്നു. ജിബ്രീൽ(അ) വന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, ഉമറി(റ)ൻ്റെ ഇസ്ലാം സ്വീകരണത്തിൽ ആകാശവാസികൾ ആനന്ദാഘോഷത്തിലാണ്.
ഇബ്നു ഉമർ(റ) ഉദ്ദരിക്കുന്നു. അബൂജഹൽ ഉമർ എന്നിവരിൽ നിനക്കിഷ്ടപെട്ട ഒരാളിലൂടെ ഈ ഇസ്ലാമിനെ നീ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തേണമേ എന്ന് മുത്ത് നബി ﷺ അല്ലാഹുവിനോട് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു. ഉമറി(റ)നെയാണ് അല്ലാഹു ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടത്.

Immediately after embracing Islam, Umar had a desire. To meet the arch-enemy of Islam and inform him personally the conversion to Islam. When it was morning, he walked straight to Abu Jahl's house and knocked on his door. He opened the door and asked. Welcome brother, whats up? Umar said, "I believe in Allah, His Messenger, and what He has revealed." Abu Jahl got angry. He closed the door saying, "May God curse you and your idea."
Then Umar thought. Who is the best announcer of news in Macca ? Yes, he is a man named Jameel bin Ma'mar Al Jumahi. Umar came to him and asked. "Did you know I have accepted Islam. I believe in the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Jameel came out without waiting to hear more . His dress was falling on the ground because of the rush. He went straight to the holy Ka'aba. Umar was also behind him. The Quraish were clubbing around the holy Ka'aba. Jameel shouted loudly and said, Oh Quraish! . This is Umar, the son of Khatab, became a Sabiee .Umar called out from behind and said, "It is not so. I have become a Muslim. I bear witness and declare that there is no god but Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the Messenger of Allah. As soon as he announced this, all the Quraish rushed towards him. After being beaten Umar said. Let's be three hundred people, then you will not be able to do this to us. They detained him until noon".
At that time, an old man from Quraish came in there. He asked, "What is the matter?" They said. Umar has become a Sabiee . What a pity! A man has made a decision about himself. What do you want him to do about it? Do you think his tribe, Banu Adiyy, will give him up to you? So you leave him on his way. To hear so much, all of them dispersed from around him like a garment falling off from a person. Abdullah, the son of Umar (ra) says, "I asked my father later in Madeena about the day he became a Muslim, who was the person who drove away the enemies gathered around him ? Father said. He was a man named Aaz bin Wa'il As-Sahmi. He died as a polytheist.
A narration quoted by Imam Bukhari from Ibn Umar can be read as follows. Umar was staying at home worried due to the death- threat of the Quraish. Aas bin Wa'il entered there. He was wearing a cloth bordered with silk and full of decorations. He belonged to the Banu Saham tribe with whom we had an agreement during Jahiliyyah period . He asked Umar what is the problem? Umar said that your people will kill me because I am a Muslim. Aas bin Wa'il immediately responded. If I declare asylum to you then no one will do any harm to you. Then he came out. The valley is filled with people marching to Umar's house. Aas asked where are you going? "We need Khatwab's son Umar," Aas responded quickly. It is not possible for you to touch Umar at all. With that the people retreated.
Umar's conversion to Islam gave confidence to the believers. Ibn Masood says that with Umar's conversion to Islam, we became strong . We were not able to pray publicly near the holy Ka'aba until he came to Islam. Says Ibn Abbas. Gibreel came and said. The people of the sky rejoiced at Umar's acceptance of Islam.
Ibn Umar reports . The beloved Prophet ﷺ prayed to Allah that You strengthen this Islam through someone you like from among Abu Jahl or Umar. Allah liked Umar.
